Ronan received his BSc (Hons) in Biological Sciences with concurrent Education at the University of Limerick (UL), Ireland. There he continued his studies and earned a PhD at the Department of Biological Sciences investigating the role of antithrombotic polar lipids and their applications for functional foods, nutraceuticals, and pharmaceuticals in relation to platelet homeostasis and human health. He also earned a master's degree in teaching, learning, and scholarship at the Center for Transformative Learning. At UL, he was a lecturer of nutrition, genetics, and physiology for modules at the School of Natural Sciences and the School of Allied Health. Ronan was also an Instructor for the Department of Biology at the University of Pennsylvania teaching molecular biology and genetics. He is currently a postdoctoral research at the FitzGerald Laboratory researching circadian rhythms in health and disease at the Institute of Translational Medicine and Therapeutics, at the University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia. Ronan is a member of the COVID-19 review consortium run by the University of Pennsylvania and the University of Colorado School of Medicine where over 70 scientists distill the latest literature on SAR-CoV-2 and COVID-19. Ronan has published several peer-reviewed articles, book chapters, and technical reports. Ronan is also an active reviewer and editor for several peer-reviewed journals in the field of nutrition, medicine, pharmacology, and translational science.
