Academic Biography


Ronan received his BSc (Hons) in Biological Sciences with concurrent Education at the University of Limerick, Ireland. There he continued his studies and earned a PhD at the Department of Biological Sciences investigating the role of antithrombotic polar lipids and their applications for functional foods and nutraceuticals in relation to platelet homeostasis and human health. He also earned a master's degree in teaching, learning, and scholarship at the Center for Transformative
learning at the University of Limerick where he was a lecturer of nutrition, genetics, and physiology for modules at the School of Natural Sciences and the School of Allied Health. Ronan has published several peer-reviewed articles, book chapters, and technical reports. Ronan is also an active reviewer and editor for several peer-reviewed journals in the field of nutrition, medicine, and biochemistry. Ronan is a member of the COVID-19 review consortium run by the University of Pennsylvania and the University of Colorado School of Medicine where over 70 scientists have come together to distill the latest literature on SAR-CoV-2 and COVID-19.
